At 5 x 4 inches (12.7 x 10.2 cm), about the size of a postcard, this is one of our largest patches, made to be a back panel, a tote face, or the single statement on a denim jacket. Bold white NEW YORK lettering on black, 18,883 rayon-thread stitches, white merrowed edge.
You receive 1 patch. The jacket, backpack and tote in the photos are for demonstration only and are not included.
Placing a large patch
The patch measures 5 x 4 inches, so measure the spot before you apply it. A few ideas: on a jacket back, sitting it high between the shoulder blades looks balanced; on a tote, centring it slightly above the middle keeps it from looking low when the bag is full. Where it goes is your call.
Applying a large patch
Set the iron to cotton, no steam. Cover the patch with a thin cloth and press firmly for 30 to 45 seconds; at this size, shift and overlap the iron so every area gets full heat. Turn the garment inside out and press the back for another 30 to 45 seconds. Let it cool before moving the garment. For anything worn or washed often, we recommend also stitching around the border.
Fabrics
Cotton, cotton blends, denim and cotton canvas take it. Nylon, polyester shells, coated fabric, leather, faux leather and vinyl need sewing. Flat surfaces only.
Care
Inside out, cold, gentle cycle, tumble low or hang. No bleach, no fabric softener. Iron from the reverse side only.
Questions we get
Will it fit a jacket chest? It is 5 x 4 inches, larger than a typical chest patch, so measure first. It is designed as a back, tote or large-bag patch.
Do I have to sew it? Ironing works on cotton, denim and canvas. For items worn or washed often, stitching the border as well gives the longest hold.
