The patch measures about 2 inches wide by 3 inches tall, with an iron-on backing.
Where it looks right
Black-and-white designs are the most forgiving patches to place, because they do not have to coordinate with anything. This one works on a denim jacket chest, a hoodie sleeve, a canvas tote, or the front panel of a bag. On a black garment the white carries the shape; on light denim the black does.
Fabrics it bonds to
Cotton, cotton blends, denim and cotton canvas take the iron-on backing well. Denim is the easiest surface: it holds heat, it does not shift, and the bond lasts.
Fabrics to sew instead
Nylon and polyester shells, waterproof or coated outerwear, leather, faux leather and vinyl all fail under a hot iron — the fabric marks or melts before the adhesive activates. Do not press over an existing printed graphic. Polyester needs a lower setting, a pressing cloth and a test on an inside seam.
Applying it
Iron the area flat first. Position the patch, cover with a thin cotton cloth, and press with firm steady dry heat — no steam. Do not move the garment until it has cooled completely. On something worn and washed weekly, run a stitch around the border as well.
Care
Inside out, cold, gentle cycle, low tumble or hang dry. No bleach — it will grey the white before it does anything else. No fabric softener. Iron from the reverse only.
