Carry the Bear Flag on a patch that is embroidered, not printed. The California Republic flag is stitched in full: the grizzly bear on green grass, the red star, the CALIFORNIA REPUBLIC lettering and the red stripe, about 12,163 stitches in 5 thread colors. A merrowed edge keeps the border clean.
Size
3.5 x 2.5 inches (8.9 x 6.4 cm), about the size of a bank card. It fits a jacket sleeve, a cap front, a backpack pocket or a vest.
Iron on or sew on
The heat-seal backing irons on at home. Use a dry iron with no steam: cover the patch with a thin cloth, press 30 to 45 seconds on the front, then 30 to 45 seconds from the back, and let it cool completely before moving the garment.
Fabrics that work
Iron it on cotton, cotton blends, denim, cotton canvas and twill. Sew it on nylon, polyester, waterproof or coated shells, leather, vinyl and stretch knits. Most backpacks are nylon or polyester, so sew those.
Care
Turn the garment inside out and wash cold on a gentle cycle. No bleach (the white field shows it first) and no fabric softener.
