The S.H.I.E.L.D. emblem stitched in glow thread — a clean, symmetrical design that suits a jacket sleeve or shoulder as naturally as it does a chest panel. It reads as a normal embroidered patch by day and lights up once it has taken on some light. The emblem measures about 3.5 inches across, with an iron-on backing.
What glow thread is
It is not paint and not a coating. The phosphorescent pigment is suspended inside the fiber, which is why the effect survives washing and cannot scuff off an edge. Charge it under a bright lamp for a few minutes, or in direct sun for less, and it releases that light slowly afterwards — strongest in the first minutes, tapering off from there. It cannot charge through fabric, so it needs to face the light.

- Costume pieces, as long as the fabric can take a hot dry iron
Sew, do not press
Nylon, polyester shells, waterproof and coated outerwear, leather, faux leather and vinyl all need sewing. So does any surface already carrying a printed graphic. Polyester is the borderline case: drop the iron a setting, use a pressing cloth, and test an inside seam before you commit to a visible panel.
Application
Flatten the area with the iron first. Position the patch, cover it with a thin cotton cloth, and press with firm unbroken pressure using dry heat — steam works against the adhesive. Let it cool fully before the garment moves. Anything washed weekly should get a stitched border on top of the glue.
Washing
Inside out, cold, gentle cycle, low tumble or line dry. Bleach and fabric softener both shorten the bond's life; bleach also attacks the glow fiber.
Questions we get
Does it glow on its own or does it need a black light? On its own, after being charged by ordinary light. No UV lamp required.
Will it still glow after a year of wear? Yes. The pigment does not deplete.
Sleeve or chest? Both work. The design is symmetrical, so it does not look wrong on either side.
